Press release socio-economic situation in the First quarter of 2022
Gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2022 was estimated to increase by 5.03% over the same period last year, higher than the growth rate of 4.72% in the first quarter of 2021 and 3.66% in the first quarter of 2020 but still lower than the growth rate of 6.85% in the first quarter of 2019.

On the afternoon of January 11, 2022, the General Statistics Office held a conference to review and announce preliminary results of the 2021 Economic Census and Administrative Survey. Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment (Ministry of Planning and Investment) Tran Quoc Phuong and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Trong Thua, Standing Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Investigation of Administrative Establishments, co-chaired the conference.

Gross domestic product (GDP) in 2021 is estimated to increase by 2.58% over the same period last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic seriously affecting all sectors of the economy, especially in the third quarter of 2021, key economic localities have to implement prolonged social distancing to prevent the pandemic.
