On the morning of September 29, 2022, the General Statistics Office (GSO) held a press conference to announce socio-economic statistics for the third quarter and nine months of 2022. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director General of the General Department chaired the meeting. At the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong announced the basic issues about the socio-economic situation of Vietnam in the third quarter and nine months of 2022. Accordingly, the gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter 2022 is estimated to increase quite high at 13.67% compared to the same period last year because the third quarter of 2021 is the time when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, seriously affecting production and business activities. Generally, in the first nine months of 2022, GDP increased by 8.83% over the same period last year, which is the highest increase of nine months in the 2011-2022 period, production and business activities gradually regained their growth momentum, the Government’s policy on socio-economic recovery and development has brought into full play.

– Number of newly established enterprises: 112,791 enterprises
– Gross retail sales of consumer goods and services: + 21.0%
– Realized investment capital: + 12.5%
– Total export turnover of goods: + 17.3%
– Total import turnover of goods: + 13.0%
– Trade surplus: 6.52 billion USD
– International visitors to Vietnam: +1535.4%
– Average consumer price index: + 2.73%
– Core inflation: + 1.88%
– Labor force aged 15 and over: 51.6 million people
– Employed population at 15 years of age and above: 50.5 million people
– Unemployment rate of labor force at working age: 2.35%
– Underemployment rate of the labor force at working age: 2.29%
In summary, in the context of the world’s economic and political situation with unpredictable and unfavorable fluctuations, the socio-economic situation in the nine months of 2022 in our country has achieved positive results in most aspects. It is due to the participation of the whole political system; the timely, drastic and close direction and administration of the Government, Prime Minister; and the efforts of all levels, branches, localities and businesses communities, and people nationwide. The economy achieved an increase of 8.83%, which is very impressive growth compared to other countries in the region and the world; macroeconomic stability, and inflation is controlled at an appropriate level. Supply and demand for essential goods were ensured, and goods consumption and export activities increased. The area of agriculture, forestry and fishery has a relatively high growth rate, confirming that the restructuring of the field has brought into play effectively, ensuring the supply of food, food, and essential goods. The processing and manufacturing industry continues to play the role of driving force for economic growth. The progress of disbursement of public investment capital has improved markedly, the growth rate of investment capital made from the State budget has reached a high level, and social security has been paid attention to ensure.
