On November 30, 2021, the General Statistics Office (GSO) attended the Management Workshop for Heads of National Statistical Agencies in the Asia-Pacific region organized by the Asia-Pacific Statistical Institute organization. The conference program is scheduled to take place in 2 days, November 30 and December 1, 2021 in the form of online. Attending the seminar at the headquarters of the General Statistics Office were Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, General Director of the General Statistics Office; Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien, Deputy General Director of GSO; Leader of the Department of Organization and Personnel; Leader of the Department of Foreign Statistics and International Cooperation; Leader of the Department of Data Collection and Information Technology Application; Institute of Statistical Science.
At the workshop, Mr. Kaveh Zahedi, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) gave a welcome speech. Ms. Rikke Munk Hansen, Head of Department, Economic and Environmental Statistics, Statistical Office, ESCAP introduced a video about statisticians.
The workshop will discuss issues related to human resource management at the National Statistics Offices. Specifically:
– Discuss the current situation of human resource management at the National Statistics Offices towards building a flexible, responsible and resilient institution.
– Propose ways to innovate human resource management at the National Statistics Offices to meet policy requirements and solve current challenges.
– Recommend ways to manage human resources for the integration and reception of new data sources.
– Discuss measures to be taken to ensure gender equality in personnel work at the National Statistics Offices.
On November 30, the workshop discussed the contribution of human resource management in the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) to the establishment of flexible, resilient and accountable institutions. Delegates from the Statistics Office of Fiji, the Russian Federation, and Sri Lanka spoke about the current state of human resource management, in aspects such as: job design, recruitment, outsourcing and selection, diversity, training and development, compensation and benefits, promotion, performance management, management relations, …
Also on November 30, the workshop took place Session A “How to innovate human resource management at national statistical offices?” with speeches by delegates from the Statistics Office of China, Malaysia and the Maldives.
The workshop will continue the discussion sessions on December 1, 2021 with the following topics: Session B: How to manage human resources to support data integration and improve the receptivity of data. new data sources; Session C: How to ensure gender equality in the National Bureau of Statistics. Delegates from the Statistics Office of Mongolia, Singapore, New Zealand, India, Uzbekistan, Samoa will participate in the presentation.
