On April 8, 2021, the General Statistics Office held a training conference on Blockchain technology software in collecting herd statistics in the form of live and online. Mr. Duong Manh Hung, Director of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Statistics Department chaired the Conference.

Attending the meeting directly at the headquarters of the General Statistics Office are leaders and members of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Statistics Department; representatives of leaders and experts from relatives departments of the General Statistics Office. Attending the conference online, there are bridge points at 7 Provicial Statistics Offices including Quang Ninh, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Son La, Binh Dinh, Binh Duong, Long An and representatives from TE-FOOD company.

At the conference, TE-FOOD company introduced the software “Livestock herd management and disease information” using Blockchain technology. The software provides immediately control the total quantity of each livestock and livestock product; management of husbandry activities and livestock epidemics, traceability of the supply chain of livestock products, traceability and support for disease prevention to help reform models and manage statistical information.

Currently, the application of information technology to statistical activities, especially new breakthrough technologies, “take a short cut and get ahead” in the 4.0 industrial revolution, has been taking place strongly in Viet Nam and particularly interested in by the General Statistics Office. In 2018, the General Statistics Office collaborated with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to implement a project of applying Blockchain technology for livestock statistics in Viet Nam (survey in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai). Following the project of FAO, in 2019, the General Statistics Office collaborated with Ho Chi Minh City High Technology Association, TE-FOOD Company who is a software provider of “Livestock herd management and disease information” using Blockchain technology and the People’s Committees of Bac Giang, Binh Dinh and Dong Nai provinces implement information management systems for livestock herds and report diseases in livestock for pig farms. Up to now, to have more information as a basis for the most accurate and complete assessment of the efficiency of Blockchain technology in the statistical survey before deciding on the plan to build an information collection system using Blockchain technology for the General Statistics Office, the leaders of the General Statistics Office have met with related partners and decided to test more in some provinces in 2021 with time is from 3-6 months.

At the Conference, the delegates gathered to discuss the features and how to use the software; experience in software implementation from previous pilot provinces and tasks to be implemented in the near future.
