To serve the direction and administration of the Government, ministries, branches, and localities quickly and effectively, and promote the application of information technology in statistics work, especially in the context domestic and international socio-economic have unpredictable developments as at present. The General Statistics Office (GSO) determined that it is necessary to set up a website to collect information about 1,000 leading enterprises in the economy. With a turnover ratio of about 40% of the total revenue of enterprises across the country, information from 1.000 surveyed enterprises will promptly reflect the business situation of enterprises as well as forecast trends active next time.

On the morning of September 01, 2020, in Hanoi, GSO held a Conference on Setting up a website to collect information about 1,000 leading enterprises in the economy chaired by Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, General Director of GSO. Attending were Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien, GSO Deputy Director-General; representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; representatives of the Department of Business Development, the Department of Business Registration Management, the Central Institute for Economic Management under the Ministry of Planning and Investment; Leadership representatives of units under GSO.

Mr. Pham Dinh Thuy, Director of the Industrial and Construction Statistics Department proposed a plan to set up a website. 1.000 leading enterprises are not only selected by the GSO to survey by revenue but also necessary to ensure representation by the economic sector and type of business (State, non-State, FDI).  Information about these enterprises collected online, using web-form questionnaires to provide information on the website periodically. The Main indicators collected include indicators on labor, investment capital, production, and business results, increased capacity, Indicators on manufacturing, and business trends in the coming time and recommendations and proposals of businesses. The GSO expected urgently complete questionnaires, website, and start time to collect information of enterprises from the second quarter of 2021.

Delegates attending the Conference highly agreed with the Plan, at the same time emphasized the coordination between the GSO with ministries, and sectors. When setting up the website, ensuring connectivity and information sharing, helping the website operate effectively. In addition, the delegates also requested the GSO to consider sharing two-way information for selected enterprises to conduct the survey.

Concluding the Conference, GSO General Director Nguyen Thi Huong emphasized the need to establish a Website that is consistent with the practice and the law. The objectives of the online surveys are to replace traditional surveys, strengthen connections and information sharing among agencies inside and outside the industry, supplement information from administrative records for fully aggregate information. The further goal is not only to increase connections with Enterprises and other management units but also to reach international connectivity. The setting up of the website should ensure that information can be extracted from available sources through coordination with relevant ministries, branches, and units, identify input criteria, output criteria. At the same time, it will determine the information that the GSO will share with Enterprises so that they have more bases to plan their business. The implementation organization should have a specific coordination plan for internal coordination within GSO units and between GSO and relevant ministries and agencies. Survey results will be announced quarterly through press conferences and widely disseminated to all users of statistical information./.
