Leaders of the two agencies signed the Memorandum of Cooperation

In the morning, 13 July 2020, the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the General Statistics Office (GSO) and the National Economics University (NEU) was held at the Headquarters of the GSO to mark an important milestone in Cooperation relationship between the two agencies. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong, General Director of GSO and Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong – NEU President, presided over the ceremony. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Director General of GSO; Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien, Deputy General Director of GSO; Prof. Dr. Phan Cong Nghia, Former NEU Vice  President; leaders of units of the GSO; leaders and former leaders of the Department of Statistics and representatives of units of the NEU.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong, General Director of GSO, thanked deeply to the teachers and the NEU for supporting GSO in recent years. To continue maintaining and developing the relationship between the GSO and the NEU, the two sides have jointly developed a Memorandum of Understanding for priority cooperation in the fields of  sharing information and statistical data; implement statistical activities; training, retraining, consulting, enrollment; and scientific research. The signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two sides marks an important milestone towards strengthening the exploitation of strengths, effectively using resources of each Party to well perform the assigned tasks and improve the quality, activities of each Party in the future. At the same time, the Memorandum shows the strong and long-term relationship between the GSO and the NEU. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong emphasized: “The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation not only links the two agencies, but also creates a solid premise for the two agencies to coordinate and support each other for mutual development in all future areas”.

Mr. Pham Hong Chuong, NEU President, also affirmed that the relationship between GSO and the National Economics University is traditional, long-lasting and close. He believes that with the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding this cooperation will open up new potentials and opportunities for the University’s students as well as the cooperation between the two agencies when the GSO can mobilize staff, lecturers and students in the field of information collection, helping data collected more accurate, complete and updated on the economic situation of the country. In addition, this cooperation will help lecturers and students of the University have conditions and practical environment to train and learn.

This memorandum takes effect from July 13, 2020.
