Ms. Naomi Kitahara – UNFPA Representative in Vietnam awarded the commemorative medal to Director General of GSO Nguyen Bich Lam

On the morning of April 27th, 2020, an awarding ceremony of the commemorative medal of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to Mr. Nguyen Bich Lam – Director General of the General Statistics Office (GSO) took place in Hanoi to recognize his outstanding contribution to the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Program of Action in statistics in the period 2014-2020 and his effective contribution to the cooperation between the GSO and UNFPA. Attending this event were Mr. Pham Quang Vinh – Deputy Director General of GSO; Mr. Nguyen Trung Tien – Deputy Director General of GSO; representatives of leaders of units under the GSO; Ms. Naomi Kitahara – UNFPA Representative in Vietnam and officials from the Office of UNFPA in Vietnam.

At the ceremony, Ms. Naomi Kitahara – UNFPA Representative in Vietnam stressed that Mr. Nguyen Bich Lam was not only a leader with a strategic vision for the development of Vietnam Statistics, but also a dedicated statistician and a reliable partner of UNFPA.

In the speech of thanks, Mr. Nguyen Bich Lam expressed that in each stage of his work, he received close cooperation and respect from UNFPA in all statistical activities. He hoped that the GSO will continue to maintain the tradition of good cooperation with UNFPA to be able to achieve more success in the coming time in order to contribute to the development of the country in general and the GSO in particular.
