![]() Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Deputy Director General of GSO delivered the opening remarks of the training workshop To implement the national action plan for sustainable development, in early 2019, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) issued Circular No. 03/2019/TT-BKHDT dated January 22, 2019 by the Minister of MPI stipulating Vietnam’s Set of Sustainable Development Indicators (SDG indicators) with 17 goals, 158 specific indicators implemented under Roadmap A (from 2019) and under Roadmap B (from 2025). The indicator “Proportion of agricultural area under productive and sustainable agriculture” (hereafter called the indicator 2.4.1) is one of sixteen monitoring indicators for the Goal 02 “End hunger; achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture”, implemented under Roadmap B. |

Lieberg, FAO Representative in Vietnam co-chaired the opening ceremony of the workshop. Attending this event were Mr. Arbab Asfandiyar Khan and Mr. Stephane Mugabe, FAO experts; representatives of leaders of relevant units under the GSO; all trainees who are specialists and analysts from relevant units under the GSO, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, MPI and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). The training course focuses on methods for measuring the SDG indicator 2.4.1, introducing the data collection instruments, evaluating the data capacity and gap of Vietnam through exercises for data inventory, thence discussing national plans to collect data for short-term and long-term indicators. |

Ms. Huong asked trainees to attend fully, on time, actively join in discussion for the workshop to be successful and achieve its goals. At the same time, on behalf of the GSO, Ms. Huong thanked the FAOs support in the past time for statistics work in general and implementation of statistical indicators for monitoring and assessing Vietnams sustainable development in particular. |
