Consumer price index, gold and USD price indexes in May of 2024
Pork prices increase due to supply shortages after the African swine fever epidemic at the end of 2023, and increased electricity prices during hot weather are the main reasons for the increase in the consumer price index (CPI) in May 2024. 0.05% compared to last month. Compared to December 2023, CPI in May increased by 1.24% and compared to the same period last year increased by 4.44%.

Industrial production in April continued its positive growth trend. The industrial production index in April 2024 is estimated to increase by 0.8% over the previous month and by 6.3% over the same period last year.

Increasing gasoline prices according to world fuel prices is the main reason why the consumer price index (CPI) in April 2024 increased by 0.07% compared to the previous month. Compared to December 2023, April CPI increased by 1.19% and compared to the same period last year increased by 4.4%. On average, in the first 4 months of 2024, CPI increased by 3.93% over the same period last year; Core inflation increased by 2.81%.

Socio-economic situation in April and four months of 2023
Agricultural production in April took place in adverse weather conditions, with prolonged heat causing drought in the Central area and Central Highlands provinces; high levels of saltwater intrusion in the Mekong Delta. Pig and poultry farming grew quite well. Forestry production promotes the planting, care and protection of forest, and timber harvesting due to it was the exploited time.

Infographic social-economic situation in the April and four months of 2024
As of mid-April, the whole country had planted 2,948.6 thousand hectares of winter-spring rice, down 2.5 thousand hectares compared to last year's winter-spring crop. Northern localities planted 1,057.5 thousand hectares, down 9.4 thousand hectares, southern localities harvested 1,612 thousand hectares of spring paddy, accounting for 85.2% of the planted area and equal to 102% over the same period last year. Of which, the Mekong Delta harvested 1,423.9 thousand hectares, accounting for 95.7% of the cultivated area and equal to 100.6%.
