The index of industrial production (IIP) in October 2020 was estimated to increase by 3.6% over the previous month and by 5.4% over the same period last year, of which the IIP of the mining and quarrying sharply decreased by 14.5%; the manufacturing, the production and distribution of electricity, the water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities increased by 8.3%, 1%, and 9.9%, respectively. The IIP of the manufacturing saw a high growth rate in October mainly due to prosperous increases of the following industries: Manufacture of pharmaceuticals, medicinal chemical and botanical products increased by 25.4% over the same period last year; manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products increased by 22.6%; Manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c went up by 20.2%; manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products rose by 16.9%; manufacture of basic metal rose by 15.2%; manufacture of food products increased by 10.9%; manufacture of electrical equipment and manufacture of furniture went up by 10.6% and 10.1% accordingly.

Generally for 10 months of 2020, the IIP was estimated to increase by 2.7% over the same period last year, which was lower than the increase of 9.5% in the same period of 2019. Of which, the manufacturing showed an increases of 2.5% in the IIP (the same period of 2019 was 10,8%), contributing 3.6 percentage points to the general growth; the IIP of the production and distribution of electricity, the water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities increased by 3.2% and 4.1%, which contributing 0.3 percentage points, and 0.1 percentage points, respectively. Only the mining and quarrying saw a decrease by 8.1%, making the overall IIP decreased by 1.3 percentage point.
