Index of industrial production in 2016 increased by 7.5% over 2015, much lower than the growth rate of 9.8% in 2015 and 7.6% in 2014 due to the sharp decline of the mining and quarrying. Of the industries, the manufacturing jumped up by 11.2%, contributed 7.9 percentage points to the general growth rate; the electricity power generation and distribution rose by 11.5%, contributed 0.8 percentage points; the water supply and waste treatment went up by 7.2%, contributed 0.1 percentage points; the mining and quarrying fell sharply by 5.9%, decreased 1.3 percentage points of the general growth rate
