As of January 20, 2025, the country has cultivated 2,020.2 thousand hectares of winter-spring rice, equaling 103.9% of the same period last year. In which, the Northern localities reached 217.7 thousand hectares, equaling 141.4% due to favorable weather.

Industrial Production Index in December 2024

The index of industrial production in December was estimated to increase by 8.8% over the same period last year. In which, the mining industry decreased by 3.7% over the same period last year; the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 10.2%; the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 5.6% and the water supply and waste and wastewater treatment industry increased by 16.4%.

In spite of being subdued, inflation was still anchored at a high level, many major economies maintained tight monetary policies and high interest rates; global trade, consumption and investment continued their downtrend; protective barriers and trade defense measures increased, etc., affecting export and import in the region and the world. Modest growth and growing public debt in many economies, including Viet Nam’s major trading partners, posed many potential risks, and decline in world aggregate demand directly impacted countries with high ranking in economic openness, including Viet Nam.

Agricultural production in October focused on tending and harvesting winter rice and autumn-winter rice across the country and planting winter crops in the North. Livestock development was stable, and localities focused on recovering production after the impact of storm No. 3.

Industrial Production Index in November 2024

The index of industrial production in November increased by 2.3% compared to the previous month and increased by 8.9% over the same period last year. Generally, in the first eleven months of 2024, the production index of the whole industry is estimated to increase by 8.4% over the same period last year.

In which, the Northern localities harvested 933.8 thousand hectares, accounting for 93.8% and equaling 94.5%; the southern localities harvested 469.6 thousand hectares, accounting for 85.3% and equaling 98.2%.
