Within the framework of the technical assistance project sponsored by the Government of Italy, the expert delegation from Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) visited and worked with the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) from June 4 to June 8, 2018. The purpose of this business trip is (1) to develop detailed implementation plan for each component of the project and (2) to sign the project implementation agreement.
The ISTAT’s expert delegation included Ms. Roberta Fontana, Project Manager; Ms. Granziella Sanna, Desk Officer of the Project; Ms. Marina Gandolfo, Head of Division for International Affairs, Coordinator for the Component “Institutional Building”; Mr. Fabio Crescenzi, Head of Division for Environment, Territory and Register of geographic and territorial units, Coordinator for the Component “Energy”; Ms. Angela Ferruza, Directorate for Environment and Territorial Statistics – In charge of the development of statistics and indicators for the disasters measure, extreme events and factors related to climate change, Coordinator for the Component “Environment and Climate change”; Ms. Cristiana Conti, Directorate General – In charge of Internal Communication and Newsletter, Coordinator for the Component “Dissemination”; Mr. Carlo Caccari, Division for International Affairs – Information and communication technology (ICT) Senior Expert, Coordinator for the Component “ICT”.
The GSO had a cordial reception for the ISTAT expert delegation, Mr. Nguyen Bich Lam – Director General of GSO – on behalf of GSO’s leaders chaired the reception. Representatives of leaders and staffs of some units under the GSO, including: Foreign Statistics and International Cooperation Department; Statistical Methodology and Information Technology Department; Industrial Statistics Department; Social and Environmental Statistics Department also attended this event.
Within the framework of the Delegation’s business trip, representatives of GSO’s units will present the following contents: (1) Organizational structure, Statistical Law, National Statistical System; (2) Methods of collection and production of energy statistics by GSO and related ministries; (3) GSO’s methods of collection and production of environmental statistics; (4) GSO’s forms of statistical information dissemination; (5) GSO’s infrastructure of information technology, database and data warehouse. Then two agencies will have a working session on the development of detailed implementation plans for each component of the project and synthesizing the one plan of the project.
At the end of the mission, the representatives of ISTAT and GSO will sign the project implementation agreement between ISTAT and GSO.
