Within the framework of bilateral cooperation between the General Statistics Office (GSO) and the Statistics Bureau of Japan (SBJ), the statistical delegation from Japan led by Mr. Yosuke Akashi, Chief of International Cooperation Section, General Affairs Division, SBJ visited and worked with the GSO from 5 February to 6 February 2018. The delegation included three relevant Japanese agencies: SBJ, National Statistics Center and NEC Solution Innovators, Ltd. Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Deputy Director General of GSO chaired the reception. Attending the reception were representatives of leaders of related units under the GSO.
The purpose of this mission of the Japanese statistical delegation is to continue the feasibility study to develop a technical assistance project to improve ICT capacity for the GSO. During the working time with the GSO, the Delegation will introduce details and identify specific needs when implementing contents of supporting for the GSO; Exchange and interview related units under the GSO applying CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing) in statistical surveys on the actual use of information technology; Identify the requirements and information needed to develop the supporting contents; identify the reqirements associated with the introduction of supporting contents (including the facility conditions,…); Identify the total cost and operating costs related to the system conversion, the compatibility with the current system; Identify the schedule for upgrading the current system, future plans and the feasible schedule for implementation.
At the end of the mission, the Delegation and GSO’s related units will report to the Director General of GSO on activities carried out within the framework of developing the technical assistance project to improve ICT for the GSO.
