In the morning, October 22th, 2017, in Hanoi, the General Statistics Office (GSO) received the delegation of information technology experts from the NEC Corporation of Japan (NEC Japan) to Vietnam for study the state of information and communications technology (ICT) of GSO. Mr. Nguyen Bich Lam, Director General of GSO chaired the courtesy reception. Participating in this reception were leaders and staffs of the Statistical Standard Methodology and IT Department; representatives of the Foreign Statistics and International Cooperation Department, GSO.
Mr. Tomoyuki Kuroda, Chief Researcher, Innovation Strategy Division, NEC Japan, head of the delegation and two colleagues will work with the GSO from 22th to 28th October, 2017 to study the state of GSO’s ICT as a basis for the development of technical assistance project to improve ICT capacity of GSO. According to the working contents, the delegation of experts heard the presentation on the situation of ICT of GSO and the demand for ICT application in the period 2017-2020; the detailed introduction of GSO’s ICT; ICT infrastructure; administration, security software; platforms for development of software and database. The expert delegation will also visit the Server center and work with the Hanoi City’s Statistical Office.
Mr. Nguyen Bich Lam, Director General of GSO expressed his appreciation to the delegation of ICT experts from NEC Japan and the Government of Japan for the development of ICT support project for GSO; at the same time, committed that GSO would implement this project well in the future.
